Regarding the Backdated notations from the front page. Getting me to do things is too often like pulling teeth.

Wanting to get those reviews in their correct order and time frame I dated them according to the review dates, BUT, did not want it to appear as though I was trying to save face. Further, I didn't want to confuse anyone who may have checked the site during that time.

And this nonsense definately does not belong on the same page.

Internet Explorer sucks! Trying to get IEEEE to properly display the menu delayed this update (and other important updates) by nearly a week. It all came down to one word in a single line of code. I still don't understand why it made such a difference. Every other browser did exactly what I wanted it to. Anyway...

Here are this update's relevants -

  1. Disc Details have returned.
  2. The menu has been spiffied up. Sub-menus now appear right below the main link, instead of on the other side of the page.
  3. Everything seems to be properly centered. There's too much padding, but since this is an intermediate design, I'm not going to waste time worrying about it.
  4. I've added an archive section, but I don't think it's going to be a main section of the site. The News and Shows Archives are the most important things in there, but those will be linked to from the News page. Other than that, if there are old site elements that aren't needed anymore, but I didn't want to completely get rid of them, I'll stick them in there..

Okay, my banter about minor site updates will be, here, on the site page. I understand how it could have been annoying. On the plus side, it will hopefully shame me into updating the site more often.

But here are the new additions, etc -

  • A pseudo-fix for the way some Macintosh browsers tucked the main text under the left box
  • Added a proper footer section
  • Stopped being lazy and got the proper colors from the (explettive deleted) album cover
  • Also some continuing tweaks to the links appearance

How do you like? Let me know.

Now that I got the site to this point, I can start bringing back the band pics and disc details.

And for those annoyed by my rambling banter below, sorry and thank you. It's hard for me to detect some times.

Yup, I did it again. And as bare bones as this is now, I have to take it down a little bit further still. After that, the site will grow a little and then get very cool. And with the apparent success of this method (from my point of view), I will likely do the same in reverse, building in incremental steps.

The major functionality change for the moment is the complete removal of the pop-up windows from the band bios. The text from those pop-ups, however, has been inserted into the bios themselves. No, not as cool, but the info is still there. Actually, that is how the bios were handed to me. It was these asides that gave me the idea in the first place.

As was pointed out to me recently, I am detailing these efforts in my own voice. For those who don't know, I am Bill, the Dwebe Master. Making notes like this helps me and it's easier to not have to wrap it in a neutral voice.

And, because this banter of mine may be of little interest to most interested in the band, when band news does come (and, oh yes, it will), I will call special attention to that post.

Returning visitors should notice that the site is working a bit differently. For now, all the page elements (menus, images, etc) will scroll with the page. That used to be done with an HTML element called, Frames. Frames are complicated enough, but my cross wired brain took it to a whole other level. But since it is a good feature, that function will return just as soon as I get my brain around a little something called Cascading Style Sheets, as if anyone needed to know that.

Further, the old image galleries on the guys' pages are now available in the Old Links box, here on the home page. That may or may not also happen with the show image galleries linked from the old news and shows pages. If it doesn't affect the new, cool idea I have, then there'll be no need to change anything.

Also, the site seems kind of small all of a sudden and, for the moment, it kinda is. That will be remedied after I design the new look for the site and have it approved by Kevin, Eric and Tom.

And lastly for today, I am aware of the 'Hell' link problem on Tom's page. That file was somehow deleted, which annoys me because it's a good joke. As soon as I find the back up, it'll be back up.

As said on the front page, the CDs page has just received a long overdue update. It's fairly bare bones for the moment, but I have some plans in mind.

And beware: the site will be going through a series of changes as I update everything. At times it will look like the site's been stripped to the walls, but all the info should still be available. As I straighten things up, some minor stuff (pictures, lyrics, etc) may be inaccessible for a bit, but they will be back and they will be better. I know myself better than promise a completion date. But, I figure, if I make it a work in progress, then I may actually work on it.

To start, news, shows and what-not will all be on the home page. You may notice that there are fewer links to the left and a new "Old Links" box to the right. As I play with the site, if I move something I will include a link to it there, at the top of the page.
