Kevin MacDonald is a talented songwriter that always pushes the envelope
with is songwriting and performance. On this lone song sampler, MacDonald
once again manages to design a tune filled with lushly layered instrumentation,
swirling melodies and complex time signatures. With influences that
range from Yes to ELP and beyond, MacDonald has taken the best of the
20th Century and crafted it for a whole new generation of listener.
Good Stuff! (Douglas Sloan) It is no secret that I am a huge Kevin MacDonald fan. His angular,
quirky brand of pop represents everything I love about the possibilities
of pop music. Kevin does this so effectively in this single. There are
breakneck changes in pace, mood and tempo, yet this sound is as irresistible
as anything recorded by XTC or my other favorite local band Baby Ray;
Kevin and BR's Erich Groat collaborated on Kevin MacDonald's last recording.
While this particular recording sounds a little noisy and over-compressed,
I suspect that is the fault of the CDR dub I am listening to and does
not in any way diminish the genius contained within! As ever I look
